The Downtown Merchants of Historic Hillsborough is a member organization of Downtown merchants dedicated to the vitality of this treasure of North Carolina. Hillsborough’s compact and walkable downtown has a colonial feel to it. Some say it could have been the first Williamsburg before the Virginia town picked up the contract as America’s prototypical colonial village. Far from being a re-enactment, Hillsborough is a living, vibrant, and authentic town, with a great mix of locally-owned businesses and restaurants. Stop by, and we know you’ll want to come back.
