The Downtown Merchants of Historic Hillsborough is a member organization of Downtown merchants dedicated to the vitality of this treasure of North Carolina. Hillsborough’s compact and walkable downtown has a colonial feel to it. Some say it could have been the first Williamsburg before the Virginia town picked up the contract as America’s prototypical colonial village. Far from being a re-enactment, Hillsborough is a living, vibrant, and authentic town, with a great mix of locally-owned businesses and restaurants. Stop by, and we know you’ll want to come back. Be sure to check the “Events” link above as well as
for more information on our great town.
