  • Weaver Street Market’s Open Mic Night featuring local acoustic musicians every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Wine tastings every Friday evening  from 5 – 7 pm.
  • Hillsborough Yarn Shop features classes from beginner/novice to advanced/expert throughout each month.
  • Hillsborough Arts Council’s Last Fridays every last Friday of the month (April – September).
  • Hillsborough Arts Council’s Last Fridays Art Walk every last Friday of the month (Feb. – Nov) from 6 – 9pm.
  • Eno River Farmers Market, market hours are Saturdays 8am to noon, and Wednesdays 4 to 6pm.
  • Hillsborough Wine Company offers “First Friday’s” wine tastings from 5 to 7 pm, the first Friday of every month, as well as additional weekly tastings monthly.
  • Panciuto, located at 110 S. Churton Street, is now serving a modified menu weekdays.  The menu now includes appetizers, pastas (full or half-size),  meats, sides, and desserts.  It will continue to be inspired Italian using more than 93% local ingredients, with everything made in-house by hand.

  • Children’s Saturday Art Activity at Margaret Lane Gallery –  Every Saturday from 1 to 2:30 pm the Gallery has a special art activity for children, on a drop in basis. It is fun and free! There is something different week. Activities we have done in the past include butterfly books, finger knitting, shaping and decorating eggs from cold porcelain clay, making God’s Eyes, and window transparencies.   • Hillsborough Artist Workshop Series
    The Hillsborough Arts Council, in partnership with Margaret Lane Gallery, is planning a series of workshops for local Hillsborough and surrounding area artists. The program is designed to educate artists on presentation and marketing of art, with an emphasis on our local market.A series of stand-alone workshops, each lasting one to three hours, is being planned. Local artists (and anyone else who finds these topics of value) will be able to sign up for one, some or all of the workshops, depending on their interests and needs.“How to Photograph Your Art Work” is the first planned workshop. It will be held on Tuesday, October 10, from 6 to 8 PM at Margaret Lane Gallery, 121 West Margaret Lane, in Hillsborough. The workshop leader will be Kristin Prelipp, the former program director at the Hillsborough Arts Council and founder of KPO Photo. She has had extensive experience working with artists and art photography in both these roles.

Friday, September 29 6-9 pm Opening Reception for “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” featuring Ray LaMantia’s Wall of Fame – a series of oil on canvas paintings of famous baseball players.  This show is Ray’s expression of the love he has for the “Game” and its history. The paintings depict the heroes of the game as presented to him since childhood. The show will be ongoing through October 22. Also available for viewing will be paintings, photographs, stained glass, recycled art, jewelry and fiber arts by other local artists.

Margaret Lane Gallery is located at 121 West Margaret Lane, in between the library and the Hot Tin Roof. Current gallery hours are Wednesday and Thursday, 11:30 am to 6 pm, Friday 11:30 am to 8 pm, Saturday, 10:30 am to 8 pm, and Sunday 1 to 6 pm (closed Monday and Tuesday). On Art Walk and Last Fridays, the gallery remains open until 9 pm. October 23 – November 12 “October Orange County Artists Guild Studio Tour Preview Show”

Preview work by the 80+ artists participating in the 2017 Orange County Artists Guild open studio tour before deciding which studios to visit. October 23 – November 12. Friday, October 27, 6-9 pm Opening Reception for “Coming Home,” which showcases scenes from Historic Hillsborough and the surrounding Orange County countryside by local artist, Jerry Smith. In discussing his work, Jerry says ““Late in life I picked up a brush and through it, my passion was created and I become a part of each painting as a youth or as a man.” Featured paintings are acrylics on canvas. The show will be ongoing through November 19. Also available for viewing will be paintings, photographs, stained glass, recycled art, jewelry and fiber arts by other local artists.
